The Stock Weekend: The Share market jumped to a record close on Friday, the second time it performed so during the week. The BSE Sensex rose 0.55 percent to close at 33,940.30 points after touching an all-time high of 33,964.28. The Nifty of NSE gained 0.50% to close at 10,493 after touching a new record of 10,501.10. BSE also achieved another milestone with the its market capitalization crossing Rs. 150 lakh cr for the first time.
Week Ahead: The stock markets remain closed on Monday, 25 December 2017, for Christmas holiday. Trading could be volatile next week as traders roll-over positions in the futures & options segment from the near month December 2017 series to January 2018 series. The Dec-2017 derivatives contract expires on Thursday, 28 Dec 2017.
Shares of Kraft paper manufacturer Astron Paper & Board Mill will get listed on the Stock Exchange next week. The IPO of the company was over-subscribed 243.29 times.
Among macro economic data, India’s infrastructure output data of Nov 2017 will be released on Friday, 29 Dec 2017.
The proceedings of the ongoing winter session of the Parliament will be in focus. The govt has a number of important Bills on its agenda in this session. The Financial Resolution & Deposit Insurance Bill, 2017 is expected to come up in this session of Parliament. The Bill aims to limit the impact of the failure of financial institutions such as banks and NBFCs. The winter session concludes on 5 January 2018.
