The key benchmark indices Sensex rose significantly led by healthcare, power and oil stocks. The broader Nifty also rose in the morning hours. Oil company shares like ONGC rose after international crude oil prices reached 66-mark due to a blast in Liybia.
The BSE index Sensex was up 793.90 points or 0.28% at 34,104.51 and the NSE Nifty index was up 10 points or 0.09% at 10,541.50 in late morning hours. Stocks of Reliance Communication (RCom) gained 16 percent after the company finalized a debt resolution plan that involves the sale of its assets.
Top five Sensex gainers were Sun Pharma, Dr Reddy’s, HUL, NTPC and PowerGrid, while the major losers were Wipro, Coal India, Bharti Airtel, ITC and ICICI Bank.
Shares of Sun Pharma, Aurobindo Pharma, Cipla, Dr Reddy’s, Axis Bank and SB were among the top gainers in the Nifty-50 index, whereas shares of Bosch, IOCL, HPCL, Hindalco Industries, ICICI Bank and UltraTech Cement were among the top losers.
Commodity Gold: Gold stayed supported amid thin trades as the year-end draw near. The metal has regained from its 5-month lows and following up buying. The metal is at present quoting flat at USD 1286 per ounce. MCX Gold futures closed nearly Rs 28,800 per 10 grams, up 0.50 percent on the day.
