Equity benchmarks extended losses in morning trade with the Sensex falling more than 250 points, weighed by FMCG, banking & financials, auto and pharma stocks. However, oil and select technology stocks bucked the trend. The 30-share BSE Sensex was down 250 points at 25899 and the 50-share NSE Nifty fell 92 points to 7981. About three shares declined for every share rising on the BSE. The broader markets underperformed benchmarks. The BSE Midcap and Smallcap indices were down more than 0.8 percent on weak breadth.
