The market breadth was narrow as 1,450 shares advanced against a decline of 868 shares, while 135 shares were unchanged. The gains on the index were led by ITC, ICICI Bank and Indiabulls Housing, while the top losers were ONGC, Tata Motors, IOC and Bharti Infratel. Midcaps registered strong gains, while FMCG and banking stocks too followed suit.
